On a Walking Tour through the French Quarter



When we signed up for the " French Quarter Walking Tour" at the "1850 House Museum Store" on Jackson Square, we had no idea what a great experience it would be! Our guide was a lovely woman whose family has been in New Orleans for hundreds of years. For only $15.00 each, she gave our small little group two hours of New Orleans history which was extremely entertaining.

Her stories took us down through the centuries; from the earliest inhabitants, through the fires, the military battles, the epidemics, and the triumphs. As we explored each beautiful old block in the Quarter, we all came to believe that this city of merchants, free African Americans, religious figures, politicians, and above all families, was a city whose destiny would not be denied.
